The £600m Sevenstone retail development in Sheffield is back on track.
In an announcement due to be made on Wednesday the Sheffield cabinet is set to announce that it has renewed plans to borrow £10m in order to complete the land purchase.
The project has been delayed since 2009 due to the recession but has been given a boost in the wake of Sheffield’s dismal performance in a recent retail poll.
The Local Data Company’s survey places the city second in a list of places with the highest concentration of shop closures. At 26.8% Sheffield was only beaten by Rotherham as three of the top ten was represented by South Yorkshire.
