Working-men’s clubs in decline

Working Mens Club’s around the country are struggling to keep up with falling interest and lack of members.

The crisis has prompted one of the clubs in Doncaster to start a revival campaign online.

The club has started a Facebook page urging people to sign an online petetion to save the future of the clubs. The petition requires 100,000 signatures before it can submitted it to the government.

The declining popularity of the clubs has been a worrying issue for the locals as they have long been an institution in this country. For the older generation of Britain, the clubs provided a much-needed social venue. However, younger generations seem uninterested in the clubs and more interested in other social activities.

Eric James a local brewery supplier at the Phildelphia Working Men Club in sheffield thinks that times have simply changed.
