Consumers wait overnight for new iPad

iPad2 hits UK shelves

As previously announced by Apple, the iPad 2 would arrive in the UK and 24 other countries on 25th of March. The new product would be available at Apple stores and selected authorised resellers at 5pm, and through the official website at 1am.

The Ipad 2 was in great demand when it began to sell in the US two weeks ago. A similar frenzy to buy it occurred in the UK. To get their hands on one as soon as possible people waited over night outside the Sheffield store.

Jinwu Han, a student from Hallam University, was the first in the queue. He said that he turned up to wait from 10 p.m the night before.

“I watched a lot of videos about the iPad 2 online and I am an Apple fan, so I want to get one as soon as possible,” he said.

Restricted

Each person who was waiting got a number from the staff, and each of them was restricted to buying no more than two of the products.

At the same time, iPad 2 could be bought in the major telecoms companies such as Vodafone, Orange, 3 Mobile and O2.

As for the online selling, although customers can book it already but they have to wait three to four weeks before it is dispatched.

The Meadowhall staff declined to reply when asked how many of the devices were sold and whether the product would soon be out of stock.
