Three Kerrang! nominations for Sheffield band

Sheffield band Bring Me To The Horizon have received three nominations for this year’s Kerrang! Awards.

The heavy metal group were nominated for best British band and best album for There Is A Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let’s Keep It A Secret, which was released in October 2010 and reached number 13 in the UK Album Charts. They also received a best single nomination for Blessed With A Curse.

The band, who formed in 2004, won a Kerrang! Award in 2006 for best newcomer and were nominated for best British band in 2008. Bring Me To The Horizon are currently signed to Visible Noise Records in the UK.

The current line-up includes lead singer and keyboardist Oliver Sykes, guitarists Lee Malia and Matt Kean, and drummer Matt Nicholls. Vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist Jona Weinhofen is the group’s most recent member, having joined them as a permanent member in July 2009.

Other British bands nominated for the awards were Bullet For My Valentine and The Blackout. My Chemical Romance received five award nominations alongside fellow American bands, 30 Second To Mars and Avenged Sevenfold.

Kerrang!’s deputy editor Daniel J. Lane said he loved the fact that the home-grown bands are going up against American bands.

The awards take place on Thursday June 9 in London. The awards will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Kerrang! magazine.
